Palm Announcing webOSdev
Jul 18th
From Palm developer Network:
I’m very pleased to announce that effective today we are wrapping up the webOS early access program. We are doing this because today we opened up the program to everyone and released our new public developer portal at http://developer.palm.com. This is the culmination of a lot of hard work by a lot of people here at Palm, and I want to be the first to thank them for making this happen.
This is one more step in delivering webOS to all developers and providing the tools they need to build great applications for Palm phones.
Please go register and join us on the new server. For a change this significant, I’m sure there are going to be some rough edges and broken links. If you run into one, please let us know by posting on the new forums. If you have trouble registering or can’t access the forums for some reason then please email me at pdn@palm.com and I’ll work with you to resolve it.

May 19th
The highly anticipated Palm Pre has been in the news since the time it was unveiled. According to Boy Genius Report, the phone is expected to be available at best Buy retail stores too. Reportedly, the retail store will be getting approximately 4500 Palm Pre units.
Apparently, the reason of supplying limited units is not yet clear but it seems that these phones will serve as demo models, as every store will get at least one Palm Pre. It is also said that Sprint is planning to take pre-orders a month before it hits the shelves.
This phone will be Palm’s first device which will be based on its new multi-tasking webOS. It comes with the ability to wirelessly sync with various online sources such as Google and Facebook. The Palm Pre features a 3.1 inch display and a 3 megapixel camera with LED flash. Moreover, it also includes 8GB of on-board storage space as well as supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.

According to the rumor mill, the Palm Pre is expected to arrive on June 7 and it is estimated to retail at $199.99 with a two year contract whereas the existing customers can upgrade it for $300 and it can also be taken without any contract for $999.
