The smartphone is a pre-production unit, doesn?t have a name yet, and it was shown this week-end at The Engadget Show.

The final version of the device might look slightly different, but it will definitely have a sliding QWERTY keyboard, a touchscreen display (probably WVGA), and back, home and search keys (which will be featured by all WP 7 handsets). A 5MP camera with flash and a 3.5mm headset jack should also be included.

As you can see in the photos below, the handset doesn?t look too different from AT&T?s LG eXpo, which runs Windows Mobile 6.5. However, the big difference will be on the software side, as Microsoft has completely redesigned its mobile OS, and thus WP 7 looks way better than WM 6.5.

Further details were not unveiled, but this LG device could be the world?s first to run Windows Phone 7 Series ? assuming Microsoft won?t launch another handset made by another company ahead of it.
