If you thought that the iPad was a funny name for an internet tablet think again. Fusion Garage, a Singapore based company, has already begun shipping their JooJoo internet tablet that was announced in December of 2009 in the US. The oddly named tablet features a large 12.1-inch capacitive touchscreen display that sports a 1366 x 768 pixel resolution. This is easily the largest such screen out there at the moment. It runs on a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor with Nvidia ION graphics and a custom Linux OS. It?s fully compatible with Flash 10.1 and Java and it?s designed to tap into web for news, music, videos, social media and Web services, so pretty much anything that the iPad can do but for $499. It?s also loaded with Wi-Fi, USB port, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, a camera, 4GB of internal memory, built-in mic, 3.5mm headphones jack and built in speakers as well. It comes equipped with a built-in, rechargeable lithium-polymer battery. It?s lighter, slimmer and larger than the iPad but looses out to the iPad?s internal memory and optional SIM card usage. But the clincher is that it?s cheaper and not tied into iTunes. The JooJoo tablet is now heading for Europe where it?ll be priced at ?359 plus ?15 for shipping.

In March we heard that Samsung had another new Android powered smartphone that was going to make big waves on the mobile scene, the Galaxy A. It seemed like this was going to be a handset to beat and now it?s heading for the Korean Market. Some are saying that this is the company?s first Android-run smartphone released in Korea. Here?s a quick features recap of this handset that?s running on Android 2.1 ? it comes with a 3.7-inch WVGA AMOLED touchscreen display, a 720MHz processor, terrestrial DMB, and DivX support, a 5 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, A-GPS, Bluetooth technology, USB v2.0 and of course microSD memory card support.
In addition to Android?s ?Market? app, Samsung has also got more to offer from their own Samsung Apps online store. The company intends to deliver over 100 Android applications by May 2010 that will be specific to the Korean market. The Galaxy A is due to hit Korea by the end of the month which is pretty much anytime now. There still doesn?t sem to be any word on its price though.

Hey, iPhone and iPad haters with a hankering for Android ? we have double ammunition for you:

Thing 1. The beloved Firefox browser has arrived on the Android platform.

Thing 2. It’s now confirmed, Android 2.2 will include full support for Adobe Flash.

Firefox Mobile is now available in the earliest of iterations; they’re calling it pre-alpha. If you’re running Android version 2.0 or above, and feel like volunteering as a guinea pig, you can now download it and take part in what could devolve into a crash-o-rama. Exciting stuff ? can’t wait to see Firefox available on one of our favorite mobile platforms.

We’re not sure when Android 2.2 will be available ? there’s no release date announced yet. But when it is, the iPhone can’t be far behind with its full support of Adobe Flash. That Android 2.2 update, also known as Froyo, better arrive post haste, before Flash becomes completely irrelevant.

Still rooting for the iPhone? Well, if the phenomenally popular Opera Mini browser was allowed into the sacred App Store, could Firefox Mobile be far behind?

Can’t decide whether you want a tablet or a netbook? Have both, says Asus. The company’s touchscreen convertible netbook, the Eee PC T101MT, is set to ship in April for an iPad-fightin’ price of $500. That’s a price-point that’s even-steven with the iPad, but offers both a more traditional laptop experience mixed with tablet-like functionality ? the kind you used to see all the time with Toshiba’s Satellite line.

For your money, you’ll get a netbook that has a swiveling, 10-inch touchscreen so that it can operate like a netbook or a tablet, the kind of Intel Atom N450 processor you’ll find in almost any netbook, a built-in GPU, 1GB of RAM, 160GB of storage and Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a webcam, three USB ports, and an SDHC card reader. Oh, and it runs Windows 7.

For a little more money, you will also apparently be able to double both the RAM and the hard drive storage space, as well as upgrade the Windows 7 Starter Edition to Premium. If we’re to believe the studies that business users want an iPad over a netbook, though, the T101MT could be in for a rough landing.

But how often do you need to be so sneaky about it that your flask needs to be disguised as an everyday object?

This camera-shaped flask looks very much like a real camera, but inside instead of image sensors and flash memory you’ll just find space for your whiskey. You can also grab one shaped like a cellphone, if that seems like a better trick to you. But that cellphone won’t be able to call AA, which might be what you need if you buy these.

How long have 16 GB cards been on the market? Too fucking long is the right answer. People?s thirst for storage will never be satisfied, and to solve that SanDisk has finally come out with a 32 GB microSD card.

Take your microSD card out of your phone right now. Look at it. Isn?t that the smallest piece of plastic you?ve ever seen? Now marvel that one day you will probably own a 32 GB microSD card. The first batch of these things ships next month at an absurd price of $200. It?ll take a while to reach $100, and even longer to reach $50, but at least the race to the bottom of the barrel has finally started.

This is also the last specification bump for microSDHC. After this you?re going to have to make sure your mobile phone supports microSDXC, but it?s going to be a long, long time until you have to worry about that.

32 GB should last you quite a while, especially since most mobile media these days is streamed, rather than downloaded.

Another product is joining the tablet wars. It?s WePad, which comes from the German company Neofonie. Specs wise, we?re talking about the device that?s more powerful than the Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) iPad, but as you know, it?s not the specs that win the consumers? hearts, minds and ultimately wallets.

While the iPad relies on Apple?s 1Ghz ARM-based A4 processor, WePad uses 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 Pineview-M CPU. Instead of a 9.7-inch (1024?768 pixels) screen found in Apple?s product, WePad sports an 11.6-inch (1366?768 pixels) display. Then there?s a built-in 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, 2 USB ports, SIM card slot, Flash and Adobe AIR support, multitasking, Bluetooth, WiFi and optional 3G connectivity. Android is running on top of Linux core (which makes it sound like Linux on top of Linux), allowing users to run both Android apps and some ?specially designed for WePad? apps.

In addition to powerful specs, the good thing is that Neofonie has its own publishing platform called WeMagazine, which they use to make newspapers and magazines readable on computers and smartphones. The plan is to use this technology on WePad in a move that will make them compete not only with the iPad, but with the Amazon Kindle as well. In that sense, they are reportedly in talks with Germany?s biggest publisher ? Springer, though we don?t have that confirmed.

Availability wise, the WePad should be available in April, and will most likely hit the German market prior to iPad. We?ve no idea when it will be available outside Germany ? I?m presuming that in addition to finalizing the hardware production, Neofonie also wants to have some publishers on board prior to launching the device elsewhere. We?ll see where that goes, and in the meantime ? you can get additional details from WePad?s official website.

There have been a lot of rumors about webOS smartphones headed to AT&T, and now it?s finally official: Palm has announced that its Pre Plus and Pixi Plus will indeed be launched by the second largest US carrier.

However, as if it?s not already a bit too late, the Pre Plus and Pixi Plus won?t be available right away ? but only ?in the coming months?.

AT&T will sell the Palm Pre Plus for $149.99 and the Palm Pixi Plus for $49.99 (both with a 2-yr contract agreement and after a $100 mail-in rebate).

Save for the fact that they?re GSM/HSDPA devices and not CDMA/EV-DO, the Pre Plus and Pixi Plus for AT&T are similar to the ones Verizon is currently selling. AT&T will offer ?Wi-Fi access at U.S. hotspots included as part of their unlimited data plan? with the two handsets.

You can sign up here to find out when exactly the Pre Plus and Pixi Plus will be available at AT&T.

Sprint didn?t mention when exactly the Moment and the Hero will get Android 2.1, but, according to Android Central, the third largest US carrier is ?actively working? to bring the latest Android version to the two handsets ?over the coming weeks.? If all goes well, Sprint?s Samsung Moment and HTC Hero will probably run Android 2.1 before the end of April.

Sprint recently announced that Google readies a version of the Nexus One for its network ? its launch may coincide with the Android 2.1 upgrade for the Hero and Moment.

Until then, you can check out our Samsung Moment review.

The Nokia E72 is currently the must-have Nokia Eseries business phone, but so far, it?s been limited to only three rather plain and overused colors (except for the last one): black, gray and topaz brown. However, it looks like things are about to change very soon, and those who would like to express themselves through the color of their handsets will be able to appreciate an upcoming update.

The team from NokiaLB have uncovered what appears to be a new Nokia E72 with a new color casing: purple. It looks to be exactly the same as earlier Nokia E72s, and only differ in its outer appearance. It looks girly, and I know I wouldn?t want to be caught dead holding it, but I?m sure some of the ladies out there would love to have their hands on it.

Although the exact release date of this particular model has not been specified, the purple Nokia E72 should be coming out very soon.

It might not have as much punch now that we know everything there is to know about Windows Phone 7 Series, of course, but it’s still a pretty big deal — the Touch Pro2 remains one of the best Microsoft-powered phones you can buy in the States, and unlike AT&T’s Tilt2, it launched with that grubby old WinMo 6.1. It’s available now, complete with Sense “enhancements” and a variety of bug fixes — so if you’ve got one of these bad boys in your pocket, it seems like a must-grab.

New pics have surfaced of Microsoft’s dual-screen Courier, and the book-like device seems to be dolled up a bit to compete directly against the iPad.

There are new details coming along with these pictures. It’s less than inch thick, weighs slightly more than a pound, and its two screens are about the size of a 5 x 7 photo. There’s supposedly a built-in camera. The best news? Its powerful NVIDIA Tegra 2 graphics processor will be driving a version of those gorgeous Zune HD and Windows Phone 7 interfaces of which we are so fond.

We’re going to have to wait a while for this sultry temptress ? its launch date is still pegged at somewhere between the third and fourth quarter of this year, selling for an as-yet-undisclosed price.

We now have something as cool as Samsung?s Wi-fi refrigerator that comes along with Wi-fi connectivity, a 10-inch touch display, Google Calendar support, a listing of 500 different kinds of food with their nutritional value, notes as well as news from the Internet. Now when it comes to the price of this fridge it?s a mighty expensive affair. $2600 is a bit too much for some of us to handle. Wait for a while, the price will come down as the novelty wears off.

We were intrigued by the little laptop when we played with it back at CES, particularly if its standard 6-cell battery hump can really produce the quoted 14 hours of life. For whatever reason Newegg and Buy.com are showing now-shipping right now, while Amazon’s lagging with pre-orders only at this point, but we’re sure you’ll make the right retail choice, whatever happens.

Well, there’s plenty more where that came from. Scattered along the main halls of CeBIT are dozens of Chinese and Taiwanese consumer electronics resellers looking to sell products to new customers, and this year they sure loaded up the suitcases with cheap Android / Windows CE tablets.

For the most part all these tablets (or small smartbooks) have ARM 9 or 11 processors and 5 to 7-inch resistive touch displays. While some like the FirstView PC607V tablet (pictured above) have attractive skins on top of Windows CE, others from companies like Forsa and Huawei have gone with stock versions of Android. In truth, all of the ones we played with felt chintzy, but it was easier to lower our standards when we learned they wouldn’t draw more than $150 from our wallets. We’ve got a hands-on video with FirstView’s Android tablet after the break, but if that doesn’t fill your cheap tablet needs hit the more coverage links for videos by some serious Android / ARM tablet lovers.

If you?re hoping to buy an Apple iPad in the US this month, you?ll be disappointed to find out that the Cupertino company?s first tablet will only be available starting April 3 ? so those rumors about production problems may be true.

Of course, it?s only the 3G-less iPad that?s going to be available on April 3. For the 3G version of the tablet you?ll have to wait until the end of April ? when both the Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + 3G iPads will also be launched in Canada, Australia, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, the UK and Japan.

As a reminder, the prices for the iPad?s various versions will be as following:

Apple iPad 16GB with Wi-Fi: $499
Apple iPad 32GB with Wi-Fi: $599
Apple iPad 64GB with Wi-Fi: $699
Apple iPad 16GB with Wi-Fi and 3G: $629
Apple iPad 32GB with Wi-Fi and 3G: $729
Apple iPad 64GB with Wi-Fi and 3G: $829

?iPad is something completely new. We?re excited for customers to get their hands on this magical and revolutionary product and connect with their apps and content in a more intimate, intuitive and fun way than ever before,? says Apple CEO Steve Jobs.

I?m not sure how something that looks just like a bigger iPhone can be completely new, but anyway.

Starting March 12, US customers will be able to preorder the iPad through Apple?s online store.

Initially introduced by Nokia as Mail on Ovi, Ovi Mail has now reached version 2.0, coming with several new features, as well as with support for a new language: Arabic (the Ovi Mail UI had to be changed for this, since Arabic is a right-to-left language).

With Ovi Mail 2.0, your mail contacts can be merged with Ovi Contacts into a single list that allows you to view, delete, edit and create contacts.

Moreover, you can now sync your phone?s phonebook with Ovi Mail and Ovi Contacts (apparently, this is a feature that many users wanted).

You can use Ovi Mail 2.0 both on your phone and on a desktop PC.

If you don?t have Ovi Mail on your Nokia phone you can sign up for an account here.
