sunglasses are really stop bullets?

These are Japan Self-Defense Force Sunglasses, and apparently they’re officially endorsed by Japan’s military. Maybe it’s because the JSDF just likes the way they look, or perhaps it’s the strong lenses. Each one is boasts the ability to withstand an impact from an object 0.3 inches (or 6.55mm) traveling at 106 miles per hour. Those specs probably won’t mean much against a 9mm bullet speeding toward your eye at over 1,000 miles per hour, but it does make for a neat image.

These JSDF shades can also withstand a blow from all the dollar bills that will be flying out of your wallet: all 317 of them. Check out a bonus shot after the jump.
