New easy type of USB charging device to fit in wall and your car from PowerFuze
Oct 31st
The Scosche PowerFuze Pro lets you charge up USB gadgets, such as your phone or portable media player, either in the car or in a wall socket. It’s a wall adapter that has a USB port in it, but it also has a detachable car adapter. When plugged into the wall, it offers 2 USB ports. But pop out that second port, and you can plug it into the cigarette lighter in your car. Pretty clever.

A Coke cane to Spy cam just like the real thing
Oct 31st
Are there any objects you can trust these days? With cameras and their associated gadgetry getting smaller and smaller, virtually anything can be spying on you at any time. Just look at this spying Coke can, for example.
These fake Coke cans have a tiny camera and DVR built inside, as well as a fake bottom that can be removed to reveal a USB port and on-off switch. They also have a remote control so they can be started and stopped from afar. If this is a camera, what else is hiding spy equipment? Maybe it’s best not to think about it.

Yamaha released EC-f electric scooter concept
Oct 22nd
The annual Tokyo Motor Show in Japan is once again playing host to a number of cool concept vehicles, one of the most interesting being the new EC-f scooter from Yamaha. The electric-powered vehicle is designed to serve as a commuter bike for city dwellers hoping to make their drive to work a bit greener (ecologically and literally).
Constructed using lightweight aluminum, the scooter runs on a lithium-ion battery and can easily be plugged into a normal electrical socket for recharging. No word on a release date for this concept, but the design alone is enough to generate excitement for its upcoming release.

Solar powered Bluetooth headset from i.Tech with noise-reduction
Oct 22nd
Blue goes green. i.Tech has come out with a solar-powered Bluetooth headset that will run practically infinitely with just a little bit of sunshine. The SolarVoice 908 has five hours of talk time and 140 hours of standby on a full charge, but it’s easy to keep it charged. Just don’t forget your sunscreen.
While Samsung came out with a solar-powered headset a while ago, the SolarVoice 908 adds advanced noise-reduction and the ability to connect simultaneously to two cellphones. It has exchangeable earplugs for a perfect fit, and a wired hook for a secure feel. While not exactly the best-looking Bluetooth headset, it needs a bit of bulk to give enough real estate to the solar panel.
For cloudy days, the 908 can be charged via USB and it comes with a handy cradle that you can stick on the dashboard of your car to capture the sunlight. It’s currently available for about $67. The question is: do you buy this because it’s green, or because it’s just plain convenient?

HP Compaq L2105 is the latest addition to the Windows 7-supporting league of monitors. The 21.5 inch multi-touch monitor has a CCFL backlight. As far as the multi-touch feature is concerned, it achieves the same with the help of two cameras and an infrared light and sensor that’s combined with a reflective field. The mere shadow of your finger on the touch interface triggers off the sensor to respond to your actions. The monitor will provide brightness up to 270cd/m2, 5 ms response time, 1000:1 contrast ratio and 170/160 viewing angles.
If you do not wish to stain the monitor with your fingers you can use the stylus that comes bundled with it. The HP Compaq L2105tm can give head-on to the Dell offering we had seen before.

A new type of Punch Camera takes pictures by punching holes
Oct 3rd
The Punch Camera is just like any other digital camera, but with a twist. You can still load your photos onto a computer via USB, but the Punch also has a series of pins that you can use to literally punch a rasterized image onto a piece of paper. You lose a lot of definition and color, but there’s an undeniable charm to the finished result.
“This is a camera which was inspired by the loss of tangible memories,” writes designer Matty Martin of his concept. “It is meant to connect both physical and digital while minimizing excess materials and the hardships in sharing images? The Punch aligns a set of pins and then uses the force of the user to perforate a regular piece of paper. ”
Microsoft Unveils Container stacks 224,000 Servers in 112 containers
Oct 2nd
Microsoft will use an approach in which servers arrive at the data center in a sealed container, already networked together and ready to go. The container itself is then hooked up to power, networking, and air conditioning. This container looks just like the Sun container we covered a few months back about a total server solution used by Sun. Only a couple of years ago, Microsoft was adding capacity one server at a time, adding individual servers to racks and taking a couple of hours to wire in each new server.
Microsoft is also used to lease much of its space, until it realized that data centers were going to be a very big part of its future as more and more software moved into the cloud. A couple of years back, though, it found itself running tight on capacity and bought two San Francisco Bay Area data centers in which it had been leasing space.

Pioneer launches BDR-205 worlds first 12x Bluray drive for desktop PCs
Oct 2nd
Pioneer has unveiled a new Blu-ray burner for desktop computers called the BDR-205. The drive is a 5.25-inch desktop drive made to go inside a computer. The drive will also burn to other media forms like DVD and CD at 16x and 40x respectively.
Pioneer will begin shipping the drive in October 2009 with a retail version shipping in Q1 2010 for $249. In addition, the new drive also comes with Pioneer’s Low Vibration Mechanism Design, which needs to be properly configured on the user’s desktop computer system.

A new Earn-O-Meter application for the iPhone tracks your worth in realtime
Oct 2nd
The world is going through tough times; the R word has hit home and for many among us didn’t even spare our pockets. So how does one calculate how much you’re really worth? The Earn-O-Meter is a neat iPhone app designed especially for the hard times the world is experiencing during the economic downturn. It has a simply goal – to show how much you’re earning in real time; while providing you with a comic relief on boring meetings and other awkward situations. Earn o meter app calculates and displays user’s income six digits to the right of the decimal point. Updating in real time down to the millionth of a dollar, figures whiz by almost faster than the human eye can perceive.
The effect is as intended – Earn o meter users visualize that a 20 minute meeting with an annoying co-worker may be unpleasant, yet is also profitable. A mindless three hour conference call nets real money. Workday rough spots are mitigated when one can see daily earnings piling up with stop-watch quickness and accuracy.

Power Loader exoskeleton can life 220 pounds
Oct 2nd
Well this is totally cool. Imagine having an exoskeleton outside you that has enough strength to crank up something as powerful and humongous as a 220 pound, umm…, something. It shares the name of the exoskeleton that featured in the movie ‘Aliens’. The dual-arm amplification robot uses 18 electromagnetic motors and also has force feed. It’s totally cool and I so wish to see it in an arm-wrestling match with the HULC.
The Power Loader exoskeleton is still in its development phase. It’s being built in Kyoto, Japan and cannot be expected till 2015.
