Nokia 6600i slide launches – Photo Gallery
May 21st
The Nokia 6600 was undoubtedly one of Nokia’s most popular smartphones. Ever since it was launched back in 2004, it has sold millions of units and even now, we come across people using the phone, albeit as a backup phone.
Today the successor to the 6600 slide officially slips into view. Bearing a subtle name change, the new Nokia 6600i slide brings with it a new wardrobe and some upgraded features, the most significant being a performance perk in the photography stakes.
Read on for the first full details of what to expect from the new Nokia 6600i slide and click through to see our first-look photo gallery.
Tucked inside its new brushed steel shell, the Nokia 6600i slide is toting an upgraded 5 megapixel camera with a dual LED flash. Boasting 3G talents, this means you’ll be able to share your shots on the move with little fuss.
The new 6600i features a handsome hidden external display, with the outer face equipped with touch technology, enabling you to simply tap it to bring the external screen to life or snooze alerts and silence or reject incoming calls. It comes with a 1GB microSD card tucked in the box, and has the capability to stomach up to 16GB should you wish to feast on a fatter diet of music, movies, games and apps on the go
This, as it turns out, it might just be another S40 phone from the company with nothing revolutionary to offer. Nokia could have done better than this, at least by not naming it after the 6600, which inspite of having been termed an “oyster egg” by detractors during its heydays, was a kick-ass phone.
It will be made available in select markets in Q3 2009 at an expected price of Rs. 13,000.
Palm Pre expected to arrive at Best Buy retail store on June 7?
May 19th
The highly anticipated Palm Pre has been in the news since the time it was unveiled. According to Boy Genius Report, the phone is expected to be available at best Buy retail stores too. Reportedly, the retail store will be getting approximately 4500 Palm Pre units.
Apparently, the reason of supplying limited units is not yet clear but it seems that these phones will serve as demo models, as every store will get at least one Palm Pre. It is also said that Sprint is planning to take pre-orders a month before it hits the shelves.
This phone will be Palm’s first device which will be based on its new multi-tasking webOS. It comes with the ability to wirelessly sync with various online sources such as Google and Facebook. The Palm Pre features a 3.1 inch display and a 3 megapixel camera with LED flash. Moreover, it also includes 8GB of on-board storage space as well as supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.

According to the rumor mill, the Palm Pre is expected to arrive on June 7 and it is estimated to retail at $199.99 with a two year contract whereas the existing customers can upgrade it for $300 and it can also be taken without any contract for $999.
Nokia unveils low cost 3G phones in India

Nokia 2730 Classic
Nokia has unveiled three new low cost 3G enabled phones
aimed at emerging markets. The new models announced are Nokia 2730 Classic, Nokia 2720 Fold and Nokia 7020.
All three phones are Internet-ready, and work with Nokia’s range of emerging market services such as Nokia Life Tools and Ovi Mail. Let’s now delve into the finer details of each of the devices.
The 2730 Classic is a classic candybar phone featuring a decent spec sheet. It comes packed with a 2-inch QVGA (320*240) display, a micro USB connector, 30MB of expandable memory and Bluetooth 2.0. The phone is 3G ready and supports EDGE as well. The camera is a 2 megapixel unit with 4x digital zoom. The phone also comes with a standard 3.5mm jack. The phone will be available in the second quarter of this year at a price of Rs. 5,300.
Nokia 2720 Fold
The Nokia 2720 Fold, as evident from the name, is a clamshell phone. This one will be slotted below the 2730 Classic. On the features front, this one sports a 1.8 inch display with a resolution of 128*160. It comes with 32MB of memory with no memory expansion capabilities, which I must say is unwarranted for. However, it does sport a 1.3 megapixel camera which should keep you happy. The 2720 is not 3G ready but supports EDGE. Bluetooth 2.0 support is present as well. This one is expected to make its debut in the fourth quarter of this year at an expected price of Rs. 3,600.
Nokia 7020
Lastly, we have the 7020 which again is a clamshell phone. This one however is feature packed as compared to the 2720. The 7020 sports a 2.2 inch, QVGA display. The phone comes with 45MB of internal memory with support for memory expansion. On the imaging front, there is a 2 megapixel camera thrown in as well. This is a Quad band GSM phone
with EDGE support. 3G however seems to be missing. Expect this one to grace your palms by the fourth quarter of this year at an approximate price tag of Rs. 6,000.
Nokia E63 for Those Who wants low cost business phone and with Black Color Verysoon
May 7th
We were pleasantly surprised by the E63’s screen. At 2.36in, metrics alone dictate it’s not going to be much of a crowd pleaser. But, in reality, the screen is more than adequate and dominates the handset’s outer shell. While a fairly low resolution, we also found the display to be very crisp and bright.
The QWERTY keypad features raised keys, with pads that are sensitive enough to respond but aren’t so OTT as to react when you’ve accidentally stroked the wrong button.
Those with larger-than-average digits may also find the size of the keys a bit irksome, particularly for the speed texters out there who are used to typing without even looking at the keyboard.
It’s obvious to see that the E63 is clearly related to the E71. Although, based on the previous observations about colour, we felt it wasn’t as classy in appearance as its older sibling which could put some professionals off.
Call quality is good and, as with most Nokia handsets, the E63 is well built and finished, and feels solid in the hand. The E63 also has a good built in speaker and, as much as any speaker of that size can be deemed “good” it ticks the right boxes.
